The emergencySMS service is supported by the government (DCLG, Home Office), the Communications Providers (3, BT, C&W;, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone), the Emergency Services (ambulance, coastguard, fire rescue and police), Ofcom, and Action on Hearing Loss.
The emergencySMS service lets deaf, hard of hearing and speech-impaired people in the UK send an SMS text message to the UK 999 service where it will be passed to the police, ambulance, fire rescue, or coastguard.
